Every February 27th is Pokémon Day – the anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red & Green in Japan, where fans around the world celebrate their love of the world’s biggest entertainment franchise, usually spurred by a host of announcements. This year, The Pokémon Company is encouraging us all to share our love and connect over the Pokémon, or in their words, to “Pokémon Together.”

Yes, not content to already be in the dictionary, the powers that be are attempting to verbify Pokémon. Apparently, Pokémon is no longer a media property or a cute critter, but in fact an action or state of being. Actually, considering some of the people I know, that might be accurate.

The program invites folks to start posting photos and videos showcasing their love for the franchise to social media with the hashtag #PokemonTogether. These posts will all have a chance to be part of an aggregated Poké Ball mosaic that will be revealed on Pokémon Day. There will probably millions of such posts, but who knows, you might get lucky!

You can check out more about the initiative on the official website.
