Every puzzle has an answer, and the conundrum of where one Hershel Layton has been for nearly a decade has finally been solved – everybody’s favorite brainteaser busting gentleman of a professor is coming back in Professor Layton and The New World of Steam.
Layton last appeared in 2014’s Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, though his daughter Katrielle took a starring role in sequel spinoff Layton’s Mystery Journey in 2017. The teaser trailer for the game doesn’t show off much besides the eponymous steampunk aesthetic, though the official Twitter account confirms that both Layton and his young ward Luke will return in the title.
