Update (10/28/22): Thanks to OatmealDome, we know that Splatoon 3 ver. 1.2.1 is out on Switch, bringing with it a fix for the Rainmaker bug. Yup, that’s right, Inklings and Octolings — Rainmaker is back!
From an outsider’s perspective, patching video games seems like a nightmare. You work your butt off just to fix one little thing, and it causes 12 other random things to break without you even realizing it. We fortunately live in an era when things can be fixed pretty quickly, but even then one tiny bug can bring things crashing down. Such is the case (on a small scale) with Splatoon 3, where an errant bug in Rainmaker has caused the mode to be temporarily removed from Anarchy Battle rotations.

Per OatmealDome, the bug caused the score counter to go to 1 when touching a checkpoint. Video of the bug in action shows how egregious it is. Nintendo is hoping to release an update soon to patch it, and we’ll be sure to provide an update when that happens. Until then, enjoy Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Clam Blitz.
