People are waiting with breathless anticipation (and perhaps apprehension) for the forthcoming trailer debut of the Super Mario Bros. movie, set to be revealed tomorrow during a Nintendo Direct. But a lone McDonald’s worker may have leaked the photo on a Discord server for streamer ConnorEatsPants.

This has enough low key casualness that it almost seems more legitimate. Like instead of some guy taking a blurry image and sweating afraid of Nintendo ninjas, a minimum wage employee saw their work program and went “wait a second.” The Mario render certainly looks clean and believable, down to the posing and detail on the denim overalls. There’s something slightly uncanny about the proportions (the eyes, nose, and ‘stache are all juuust a bit smaller on Mario’s face than in game renders) but certainly plausible. Or it could be an elaborate hoax. Who knows?
We’ll find out when the Super Mario Bros. movie trailer debuts tomorrow, October 6th, at 1 p.m. PT.
