As one of the biggest media franchises of all time, Pokémon has a longstanding tradition of collaborating with various music artists, from the legendary Donna Summer and Weird Al Yankovich back in the day to more recent acts like Post Malone for the franchise’s 25th anniversary. And now we have our next big hitmaker collab: noted redhead, Game of Thrones cameo-er, and jokerfied English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Ed x @pokemon collaboration confirmed, we love to see it! ‘Celestial’ will be out September 29th ✨ https://t.co/rKOG5Thot1 pic.twitter.com/FzHJj7YO5k

The song will be called “Celestial,” which could be in reference to a number of different specific Pokémon like Legendaries or Mythicals but will probably have a broader meaning. Sheeran posted a brief snippet of the song on YouTube, singing his heart out surrounded by Pokémon plushies both big and small, which honestly is The Dream. Sheeran is a longstanding fan of the franchise, it seems, tweeting approval for Gen V (the best one) over a decade ago.

We’ll be sure to report on the song proper when it releases in a week on September 29th.
