Last week, Nintendo released a variety of commercials for Splatoon 3 in Japan. Short, but filled with lots of ink, the six commercials covered everything from the game’s weapons (new and returning) to the game’s new story and finally some Turf War battling. To kick off this week, Nintendo of America has uploaded a 63-second commercial on their official YouTube channel.
Featuring tweens and teenagers, an impressive Turf War battle is happening not only in Splatoon 3 on a variety of Nintendo Switch consoles (the white OLED, standard Switch, and Lite), but also in real life. Following previous Nintendo of America commercials that feature live-action segments, the commercial is also filled with a variety of “Easter Eggs” and smart set dressing. A variety of Splatoon 3-themed posters and stickers can be found throughout the commercial (the girl’s bedroom at 0:06, the record store at 0:21, on a pair of headphones at 0:22, on a skateboard at 0:25, in the theater’s windows at 0:31), some Splatoon-esque grafitti (at 0:12), and a theater marquee lists C-Side and possibly the Squid Sisters as performing there that night (at 0:16).
More than likely, a shorter cut of this commercial will be making the rounds on TVs throughout the U.S. Expect it to pop up more as we get closer to Splatoon 3’s release on Friday, September 9th.
