Closing out THQ Nordic’s Digital Showcase 2022 today was a F.U.N. new look at SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Announced last year during THQ Nordic’s 10th Anniversary Showcase, we haven’t seen any gameplay footage – until today!
Everything is possible in the infinite expanses of the cosmos… there might even be a reality where mayonnaise is an instrument!
When the mysterious fortune teller Kassandra grants SpongeBob and Patrick wishes, the two buddies unintentionally open up portals to strange Wishworlds… it’s all F.U.N. and games until their friends get lost in the portals!
Explore seven distinct worlds and don more than 30 cosmic costumes to rescue the universe of the brand new adventure SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
This first look shows off SpongeBob and Patrick (but in his new “Balloon-Patrick” form… I sense some plot “wish gone wrong, but also terribly right” mischief here) as they explore Halloween Rock Bottom (Gary boss fight), Prehistoric Kelp Forest (“SQQQUUIIDWWAAAAAARD!”, Downtown Bikini Bottom, and Wild West Jellyfish Fields. Along with the gameplay trailer, the game’s official site has been updated with more details about the title.

Sure, the very fabric holding the very universe very together could come very undone, opening up portals into Wishworlds full of knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails. But that’s nothing everyone’s favorite Sponge can’t handle – with the right cosmic costume!

Lastly, the official PlayStation Blog also published a short interview about how SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake came to be. There, it’s confirmed that Purple Lamp’s hard work on SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (and its success) sealed the deal with another SpongeBob adventure.
Still, with all these updates, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake release date for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC is listed as “coming soon”.
