It’s hard to believe we’re less than a month out from the release of Splatoon 3, but indeed the time for cephalopod paintball is soon to be upon us. And to commemorate, Nintendo has begun to roll out TV ads in Japan — a whopping six of them, to be exact.

The first four follow a similar structure — an average person is going about their day, whether it be at the archery range, in the atelier, or just walking somewhere. Then they’re assailed by ink out of nowhere, leading to them turning whatever prop they have on hand into one of the Splatoon weapons — namely the Stringer, Octobrush, Slosher, and Brella, respectively. It’s a fun and lighthearted way to show off the weapons and the vibe of the game.

The fifth commercial, meanwhile, shows the four people from the previous CMs locked in a battle. This is more typical Nintendo commercial fare — casual playing, laughing, a simple slice of gameplay and style. The final commercial shows a more comprehensive overview of Splatoon 3, including Story Mode, the Splatlands, Deep Cut, and more.

Splatoon 3 launches on September 9th.
