The Hisuian Discoveries event just ended earlier this week in Pokémon GO, and Niantic is already excited to share details for the next event. The Bug-type focused Bug Out! event is back and for this year it features a few new debuts in Pokémon GO and possibly more thanks to Ultra Unlock bonuses.

First, 2022’s Bug Out! event will be taking place from Wednesday, August 10th at 10 a.m. until Tuesday, August 16th at 8 p.m. your local time. During that almost week, Trainers can find Mega Scizor in Mega Raids! Not only can you possibly catch a Scizor (and a Shiny one if you’re lucky), but you can start collecting Scizor Mega Energy. Make sure you collect at least 200 Scizor Mega Energy during this event!

That’s not the only debut during this event. Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt will also be available for the first time in Pokémon GO. To evolve Grubbin into Charjabug, you’ll need 25 Grubbin Candies. As for evolving Charjabug into Vikavolt, not only will you need 100 Grubbin Candies, but you’ll also need to be within range of a PokéStop that has an active Magentic Lure Module applied to it.

Currently, the other big debut can be found in 5-Star Raids. Genesect was previously confirmed to be appearing in Raids this month, but Niantic had mentioned it would be a particular form of Genesect that hadn’t been released into the game yet. Well, thanks to the process of elimination, Genesect’s Chill Drive is the only form missing from Pokémon GO. Today’s event overview on the official Pokémon GO blog confirms that Trainers can find Genesect (Chill Drive) during the event, but no shiny version will be available.

Beyond that, the event will feature a variety of Bug Pokémon in the wild, Raids, Field Research Task encounters, photobomb spawns, and more. For Trainers that have enjoyed the in-person Raid event that’s been taking place after Community Day, a version of this event will be happening daily. When three or more Trainers join an in-person Raid, specific wild Bug-type Pokémon will appear afterwards for 15 minutes. Here’s the current lineup of Pokémon that’ll be spawning during this bonus:

  • August 10th – Wurmple*
  • August 11th – Caterpie*
  • August 12th – Spinarak*
  • August 13th – Venipede*
  • August 14th – Kricketot*
  • August 15th – Weedle*
  • August 16th – Ledyba*

Note: Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”

There might be even more bonuses and encounters, depending on the results of Pokémon GO Fest 2022 Sapporo’s Global Challenge. Like the previous Pokémon GO Fest 2022 events, if Trainers complete the Global Challenge task, Ultra Unlock bonuses will be activated. Look out for that announcement this weekend, during or at the conclusion of this summer’s final in-person GO Fest 2022 event.
