For over 25 years, there’s been plenty of ways to play Pokémon – from video games (main series and spin-offs) to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. With that amount of time, and reach, the Pokémon franchise has had plenty of art pieces produced for it. That’s why, starting next month, the Pokémon TCG Online Illustration Exhibition (a digital exhibit dedicated to Pokémon TCG illustrations) will be made available to all worldwide.

From Wednesday, August 10th, 2022 to Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, a special website that’ll act as a digital-only, online gallery will be made available to Pokémon fans all over the world. It’ll be free to peruse, and the site will be available in 10 different languages (Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian).

The exhibit will be split into different sections. These include a history section, detailing the trading card game from its humble beginnings back in 1996. A section dedicated to illustrations that fit the theme of “the life of Pokémon”, seeing various Pokémon in their day-to-day lives. Then, there will be a dedicated artist section that’ll include 50 different artists as well as commentary on the art they created for various Pokémon TCG cards.

A preview of the exhibit has been made available too. For now, it just shows that Pokémon fans will be able to view a variety of different cards and can zoom in on just the art itself.

One special part of this exhibit is that it’ll include new illustrations made specifically for this event by illustrator Takumi Wada – who is known for their work on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and many more Nintendo titles. Wada’s illustrations will be released in waves and are currently planned for the following dates: August 23rd, September 7th, and September 22nd. The announcement does note that while these are new illustrations (and thus, new cards) that sales/distribution of these cards are currently undecided.

To visit the exhibition for yourself, check out the announcement page for the Pokémon TCG Online Illustration Exhibition on Wednesday, August 10th, and find the (live) link to the official site.
