Another weapon report is here from the Squid Research Lab! This time, a series of tweets a dedicated to the various brush-like weapons that Inklings and Octlings have been swishing around since the first Splatoon game. These roller-class weapons don’t have any major style changes for Splatoon 3, but we can at least check out some fresh game models of them.
First up is the Inkbrush – a simple paintbrush with a tube of ink connected at the ferrule (that metal part of the paintbrush). Its navy blue handle has stayed the same. After all, why fix something that isn’t broken? It certainly hasn’t with all that swishing and flailing to deal maximum ink damage!
The Inkbrush isn’t the most powerful weapon, but it makes up for it with style and panache, like our new tie-dye lab coats “someone” “ordered by mistake.” It can be used to advance quickly while inking turf with dizzying flourishes, which can really mess with opponents’ heads. pic.twitter.com/RREUwijiNB

The other brush weapon in the Splatoon family is the Octobrush. This beefy, square-shaped painter’s brush and its dark brown handle are as stunning as ever. Bigger the brush means more ink, but also a heavier weapon to haul around. Luckily, all the known Splatoon 3 footage out there has shown the Octobrush to come with Suction Bombs and the new Zipcaster special weapon – both of which will help add some speed into the mix.
The Octobrush is a work of art itself, crafted from the finest wood and fitted with bristles hand selected for massive ink retention. As you’d expect, it splashes hard and far but uses lots of ink with each stroke. Still, even as a scientist, I know a masterpiece when I see one. pic.twitter.com/ZufZl0FTNI

There’s more than just weapons to report on in Splatoon 3. While it might be small, today we got confirmation that the collectible Sunken Scrolls found in the game’s story mode will return. Even better, we got our first look at one of the scrolls in question and it features Sheldon from Ammo Knights! Go figure that his entry is full of text and notes and- ok, Sheldon! We know you really like to talk up your merchandise. We get it.
And the opposite page features a little doodle of an Octarian enemy. Get ready for some flip-book animation action when all the Sunken Scrolls are collected.
