In what is a major triumph if you’re a Nintendo executive (and basically no one else), the Nintendo Switch has achieved a reigning heavyweight title — the Switch has surpassed Sony’s Playstation 4 in US lifetime sales, becoming the 4th highest selling console in the country in history and the sixth best overall. It only trails the likes of the Xbox 360, original Game Boy, Wii, DS, and PS2 here — though it still trails the PS4 internationally by about 10 million units.

Hardware milestone aside, on the software side of things the month was dominated by Danish bricks based on an American science fantasy epic — LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga was the best-selling title on every single platform (Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, AND Steam!) and is already the second best-selling title of the year so far, behind only absurd success story Elden Ring. Pokémon Legends Arceus fell to #3 YTD and #5 for Switch April sales, but has clawed its way into the top ten of Last 12 Months sales. Kirby continued its strong performance, dropping only one spot to #2 for Switch sales and holding its top ten YTD spot, while Nintendo Switch Sports had a strong debut at #3 on the Switch chart.
