The Seiken Densetsu/Mana series celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and it comes with a surprising announcement: an anime adaptation of Legend of Mana, the fourth (and in this author’s opinion, best) entry in the long-running franchise. Subtitled “The Teardrop Crystal,” it will presumably adapt the arc of the same name from the game, featuring Nobunaga Shimazaki as protagonist Shiloh, Yuichiro Umehara as Elazul, and Kaori Nazuka as Pearl. We have a PV as well:

The character designs will be handled by HACCAN (who did the character designs for the Secret of Mana remake and some other Mana works) while the soundtrack will be done by the one, the only, the incomparable Yoko Shimomura, who of course worked on the original Legend of Mana and also Kingdom Hearts and so, so much more. The anime will be produced by Graphinica and Yokohama Animation Lab, who made the opening cinematic for the recent Legend of Mana remaster. No word on a release date yet, but the anime will be coming sometime this year. Stay tuned for updates.
