As we reported on earlier today, January 22nd, 2022, marks Final Fantasy VII’s 25th Anniversary. It wasn’t just that logo that’s new, though, as Square Enix announced a bunch of new tidbits.
Perhaps the oddest announcement is a digital alarm clock based on Cloud’s own Buster Sword, suspended in a pedestal alluding to the original game’s title screen. As an added touch the materia slots even light up. That said, Square Enix says this is a provisional design that could change closer to its release later this year.

Meanwhile Kingdom Hearts has gotten in on the fun, recreating a piece of key art for Final Fantasy VII Remake with Sora and Scala ad Caelum. This hearkens back to when a similar image was made for FFVII’s 20th anniversary.
