Pokémon Evolutions has reached its eighth and final episode, giving every region a chance to tell its own story. We’ve returned back to Kanto, and while it’s easily the region we’ve spent the most collective time with across all Pokémon stories, it still managed to surprise me.

For one, its star is none other than Green, a Trainer introduced in the Let’s Go! games but potentially inspired by any number of earlier inspirations. In fact, the entire episode is Let’s Go! based — that game’s rival, Trace, and its female playable Trainer are both featured, and there’s a shout out to Meltan right at the end.

Of course, the other main aspect of this one is the capture of Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. Despite the episode itself being a little more cartoonish, featuring the climactic encounter with that powerful Psychic Pokémon is a fitting finale to Evolutions’ run of stories.
