If anyone has been burdened by the phrase “Switch port when” it’s Atlus. Fans continue to clamor for Persona 5 to hit Nintendo’s console, and while I wouldn’t complain about that release they’ve just confirmed something special is on the way instead.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim released two years ago in Japan for the PlayStation 4, and saw an English release in 2020. This Atlus and Vanillaware reunion is both gorgeous and compelling, featuring an interwoven sci-fi narrative spread across thirteen characters and multiple timeframes. Five months from now, this masterclass in storytelling will come to Switch.
Without going into specifics, this was one of my favorite games of last year – a sentiment I know I’m not alone in. Do your best to treat lightly and remain unspoiled, those of you who haven’t given it a chance yet. If ever there was a game you should take a leap of faith on, either by picking it up now or holding out for this Switch release on April 22nd, 2022; it’s 13 Sentinels.
