Since nearly the beginning of the franchise, Pokémon has leveraged its marketing muscle to work with some of the hottest pop stars around — who can forget the legendary Donna Summer belting about the Power of One? The tradition has continued through this very year, when virtual uncanny valley Post Malone performed a virtual concert for the franchise’s 25th anniversary. And now, Pokémon GO specifically is going to get a collab with… Ed Sheeran?

That’s right, fresh out of his Joker Phase, the most popular singer-songwriter of the UK over the past decade not named Adele has upgraded from Game of Thrones cameo to… whatever the heck will happen in this collab. Will Sheeran’s hits play as you traipse around town? Will you be able to customize your Trainer to look like him? The possibilities are mysteriously intriguing. I was going to make a “Shape of Mew” joke, but the Twitter comments already did. Anyway, we’ll be sure to update this with collab details whenever they’re announced.
