From its debut announcement at The Game Awards 2020 to its release in August 2021, the journey for Road 96 has been a long one – at least behind the scenes. Now that the game has been in the hands of players all across the world, Ravenscourt and DigixArt are lifting back the curtain on the game’s development with a documentary. Directed by Danny Fonseca and Florian Gallant, you’ll see how Road 96 evolved from a variety of prototypes and what it was like to make a game during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I wanted to document the teams incredible journey throughout, it became bigger than the original idea,” said Yoan Fanise, CEO and Creative Director at DigixArt. “I hope it gives our fans a look into the passion we as a studio pour into our projects, to see how we live the game[.]”

The full documentary is available to rent (for $1.96) or purchase (for $3.96) on Steam. It clocks in at 52 minutes and features subtitles in English and Traditional Chinese. In honor of the release, the game is on sale for $15.96 on Steam. While that sale doesn’t carry over to the Nintendo Switch version, you can still download the free demo on the Nintendo eShop today and get it for the non-sale price of $19.96.
