With just a month to go before the theatrical release of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, there has been a strangely low amount of promotion for the upcoming movie reboot. At long last, however, Sony Pictures Entertainment has revealed the first trailer for the film, finally giving fans chomping at the bit like a zombified horde something to chew on.

The trailer begins with the Redfield siblings, Chris and Claire, discussing a conspiracy regarding the sinister Umbrella Corporation which, as fans of the games will know, is responsible for the viral outbreak that spread across the Arklay Mountains and Raccoon City. Following scenes show the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team at the Spencer Mansion, and Claire with Leon Kennedy at the R.P.D.

The video also provides our first look at many of the movie’s creatures, including Lickers, Cerberus (the zombified dogs), mutated versions of Lisa Trevor and William Birkin, and of course, a ton of zombies. There are plenty of nods to the games thrown in, such as the infected truck driver from Resident Evil 2, a film reel of Code Veronica’s Ashford twins, a scene reminiscent of the original Resident Evil’s first zombie encounter, and even an “itchy, tasty” reference.

Needless to say, the trailer includes explicit violence and gore, so be prepared before you hit play.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will debut exclusively in theaters on November 24th, 2021 in the US, December 3rd in the UK, and November 25th in Australia.
