One of the more unsung aspects of a company in any industry is their logo. Discovering the arrow in the FedEx logo can be a mind-shattering experience, and as video game fans we encounter logos and iconography pretty much whenever we start up anything. One of those I’ve been seeing a lot of lately is Bandai Namco’s thanks to the recently released (but sadly not on Switch) Tales of Arise, but next year that familiar sight will be no more.

Bandai Namco has announced that they’ll both be updating their logo and their stated purpose, another core aspect of corporate branding. Boiled down to a single sentence, it’s “Fun for All into the Future”, with a longer reasoning and ethos provided as well. And that’s all well and good, but it’ll take some time to adjust to the new logo.

Gone is the mingling of red and yellow into orange to represent the unity of Bandai and Namco. Instead, black text inside a pink speech bubble outline will be their new signage, with their purpose quote included for internal use. The use of a speech bubble in the logo is to represent connecting with and inspiring fans around the world, communicating with them directly through products. It also plays into “manga culture”, something Namdai is certainly familiar with thanks to its many Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and other licensed releases.

Regardless of your own thoughts or feelings on the change, expect to see Bandai Namco’s new logo on games and more beginning April 2022.
