Today, Netflix officially announced who will be taking the mantle of Lara Croft in their upcoming Tomb Raider animated series. Hayley Atwell, famously known for playing Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be taking up the role of the British explorer in the near future.

Netflix’s Tomb Raider series is set to take place directly after the events of Crystal Dynamic’s and Eidos-Montreal’s reboot series. Atwell will be playing either the same or slightly older version of Camilla Luddington’s character that first saw her debut in 2013’s Tomb Raider and last appeared in 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
While the new Tomb Raider series has no release date, the episode scripts were previously confirmed to be completed by the show’s writers. PowerHouse Animation who worked on Netflix’s Castlevania series is also set to animate the project.
