Super Monkey Ball is one of the most cheerful games I’ve ever played. That’s including every last “Fall Out!” and mind-bending course they so lovingly throw our way, and I’m going to grant a great deal of that credit to its cast of playable primates.
Sega seems to agree, as the latest Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania trailer is all about the six simians that make up its main playable roster.
AiAi, MeeMee, and Baby have been around from the arcade start, with GonGon muscling his way in for the console versions. Seeing Doctor and (“The Wildcard”) YanYan added in — despite not having been in the original releases of Banana Mania’s inspiration — just adds to the 20th anniversary vibes and overall cuteness.
