Remember last year, when Netflix announced a new Resident Evil adaptation? No, not the CG-animated Infinite Darkness which, confusingly, was also promoted earlier today. The live-action one. And no, that’s not to be confused with Welcome to Raccoon City, the reboot movie coming in November. That’s right, for those of you keeping track, there is in fact a third Resident Evil project in the works – the currently untitled, live-action TV series starring the daughters of franchise antagonist Albert Wesker.

Netflix Geeked has finally revealed the cast of the upcoming show, with The Wire star Lance Reddick playing Albert Wesker. Other cast members include Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Tamara Smart (The Worst Witch, Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (Upside-Down Magic), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Paola Nuñez (Bad Boys for Life, The Purge).

The show will take place over two time periods. The first sees Billie and Jade Wesker moving to New Raccoon City, and another will take place in the future when a zombie apocalypse has reduced the worldwide human population to 15 million. It will consist of eight one-hour episodes.

The premise of the show alone was certainly out of left field when it was revealed last year, and now seeing the first promotional material emerge showing cast members smiling and laughing is all the more bizarre for a property based on Resident Evil. Still, with Reddick on board, it’s at least nice to see some star power behind the project. There is no word on a release date, but whenever it hits, it’s sure to be interesting, if nothing else.
