You may still be watching The Game Awards at home but the attendees, presenters, and nominees will be once again back together. During the first day’s closing moment of Summer Games Fest 2021, show host Geoff Keighley wrapped up the digital live stream with a few reminders and an announcement. While Keighley will be returning for the live opening of Gamescom 2021 on Wednesday, August 25th, to lead another digital presentation, the host was excited to share that The Game Awards will indeed be having an in-person format this December.
Yep, you heard it here first! @thegameawards will return this December as an in-person ceremony at the @MSTheater in Los Angeles – more details coming later this summer! pic.twitter.com/1e65eNokho

The Game Awards ceremony will make a comeback at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. Keighley did not provide a date for the celebrated industry event, however, more details are set to be announced later this summer. Previously, The Game Awards in-person showing did not happen as a result of the pandemic. While the digital-only showcase was a smash hit when it last aired breaking viewership records, 2020 was the first time ever when (like many other events) The Game Awards had to be hosted outside of a theater.
When more details regarding The Game Awards make the rounds from Keighley and his company we’ll be sure to let you all know!
