Dragon Quest’s rather confounding Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary livestream just wrapped up, and the MMORPG entry Dragon Quest X took the spotlight for two of the six announced games, and one of them strips out the “MMORPG” part entirely.

The new game, titled “Dragon Quest X Awakening Five Races Offline”, looks to remake the first part of the game, which consists of the tutorial and “Version 1: Awakening of the Five Tribes” with a chibi style reminiscent of entries like Dragon Quest IX.

Platforms have yet to be revealed, and no mention was made of a localization, but with the Japanese release window slated in 2022, we have plenty of time to find out if we can experience the story of Dragon Quest X.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
