Oh, Reggie Fils-Aimé. Nintendo of America’s former president has put up with a lot in his time, and while fans seem to have moved past beating on the Wii U or wondering what being a Purple Pikmin actually feels like, there is one burden he continues to bear.
The ever elusive yet just as beloved Mother 3 has remained unlocalized, with Reggie getting plenty of questions and requests in his time with the company. All those were taken in stride, with answers (albethey deflective ones) always given and some fun poked at it back during E3 2014.
This time though, his body was ready for a laugh of its own.
Mother 3 English version. Every time I think it’s time to play it, I get trolled and decide to put it off. Maybe I will fire it up this weekend. https://t.co/ocIKHaxUiK pic.twitter.com/zgUHomN5im

If we take this tweet at face value, Reggie has had an English copy of Mother 3 in his backlog for nearly a decade and a half. Anytime he’s thought of enjoying the strange, funny, and heart-rending story of Lucas and those he meets and loves, some irksome fan decided to get in the way. This makes perfect sense, for if Fils-Aimé had played even one chapter of Mother 3 during his time with Nintendo, we’d be about due for at least its second re-release to be removed from the eShop on April 20th.
Humor aside, Mother 3’s 15th anniversary is right around the corner and it’s great to see Reggie have some fun with this Game Boy Advance gem’s reputation. Of course, it’d be more fun to give the game a try on Switch… Doug.
