Geoff Keighly is no stranger to summer gaming conventions, having hosted multiple E3 showcases over the years, as well as creating Summer Game Fest last year.

On top of his usual duties as coordinator of the Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, Geoff has announced today via Twitter that he will be returning as host and producer for Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021 on Tuesday, August 24th.

Gamescom serves as the late-summer crescendo to the season’s usual deluge of announcements, and this summer’s expo will be no different.

Last year saw the event transition into an all-digital affair due to the pandemic, however, the team behind Gamescom is confident that the next step can now be taken to return the event to its full glory. In an effort to ensure the expo is as safe as possible, this year’s festivities will be a hybridization of the traditionally in-person event from August 25th – 29th.

You can find all the details on this new approach to the expo, along with the safety precautions that will be in place on Gamescom’s official site and via the press release about 2021’s event.
