As we gripe over Daylight Savings Time in America, a different seasonal specialty is coming to Japan. Cherry blossoms will be in bloom soon, and the Kirby Café has three new menu items perfect for a sakura viewing picnic!

The new delights include a sushi bento box, a first for the Café. It’s made up of six pieces (including ones modeled after Kirby and Waddle Dee) served in a souvenir bento perfect for takeout. There are four designs for the reusable boxes’ lids, so repeat visits are definitely encouraged.

Next is Kirby’s take on sakura mochi, a traditional treat for hanami season. Using the trademark leaf as inspiration, it’s being called a springtime game of hide-and-seek under a cherry blossom tree. If that doesn’t melt hardened winter hearts, a sakura latte will also be served to make your Kirby Café visit even more pink.

These limited-time cherry blossom picnic menu items will be available starting March 19th at both the Tokyo and Hakata Kirby Cafés. Like their inspiration, they’ll only last through spring, disappearing on June 6th.
