Masahiro Sakurai has his work cut out for him in many, many ways. Setting aside every task and expectation related to his role as Super Smash Bros. director, the man has managed to keep a regular social media presence with his daily pictures from the game’s development.

That’s mostly been focused on Pyra and Mythra lately, but a collection of anniversaries got some love as well.

The two most notable were the Pokémon series as a whole, and specifically its Red and Green versions turning 25. Ivysaur may be standing in for its evolution Venusaur, but it’s a simple yet perfect representation of the series’ earliest days.

He also shares a personal experience with the game, that being how he received Mew(s) from a Nintendo event. Back in the day that wasn’t always the most believable claim, but Sakurai even cites their original trainer ID – Yoshi.

The other is the Nintendo 3DS system. What better way to mark ten years since the handheld’s debut than with some Nintendogs + Cats?

The Duck Hunt Dog and Living Room stage aren’t alone in this, as Sakurai saw fit to share a look at his own (adorable) cat enjoying a treat to fit the theme.

Though they aren’t getting big, celebratory pushes this year, the following also got some love on Sakurai’s timeline last week:

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn –

Dillon’s Rolling Western –

Super Punch-Out!! –

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
