Get a steady reserve of Poké Balls ready because Niantic has announced two brand new events for Pokémon GO that will start this weekend to tie in with the Johto region spotlight.

Beginning Saturday, January 30th, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, Trainers will be able to participate in a Limited Research event featuring Gen 2’s sharp claw Pokémon Sneasel. By completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks, Trainers will be able to encounter Sneasel and possibly its Shiny variant if they’re lucky enough.

On the legendary front, from today, Tuesday, January 26th,  to Sunday, February 7th, at 8:00 p.m. local time, a new line of Team GO Rocket-themed Time Research will be available that will give players the opportunity to catch the one and only Ho-Oh upon completion. Unlike previous events featuring Gold’s cover art character, the Ho-Oh from this particular event will know the move Earthquake.

For those continuing to play Pokémon GO amongst our current global circumstances, remember to stay safe and follow local health guidelines when playing!
