I’ve always been fascinated by Smash Bros. superlatives. Things like highest damaging attack, or best jump height were interesting facts for sure, but for the next online tournament event it’s all about one thing.
Speed.

Only the fastest 16 fighters are allowed to participate here. Since they’re talking run speed here, nobody’s outpacing Sonic the Hedgehog.
For anyone curious, the current ranking (and thus, participants list) is as follows:
- Sonic
- Captain Falcon
- Little Mac
- Sheik
- Fox
- Zero Suit Samus
- Greninja
- Mewtwo
- Charizard = Ridley
- Banjo & Kazooie
- Cloud
- Roy = Chrom
- Meta Knight
- Palutena
Some characters known for their footwork are just barely missing out, like Yoshi and Pikachu. Of the above Banjo & Kazooie caught me by surprise personally, but that Talon Trot’s no joke.
Limber up and get ready for these high speed matches, or you’ll fall behind the competition. The three day gotta-go-fast face off begins this Friday, January 22nd.
