Over on his Twitter (@Sora_Sakurai), Smash Bros. series Creator and Director Masahiro Sakurai has been active. For the last year, he’s been sharing a picture a day, taken during Ultimate’s main development as well as during that of its DLC.
These have ranged from amusing to celebratory, often marking anniversaries of games or characters as well as new releases on Switch. Unfortunately, it sounds like the well is running dry and the rate of these images will be slowing down.
pic.twitter.com/GeMHhJ8PUG— 桜井 政博 / Masahiro Sakurai (@Sora_Sakurai) December 27, 2020
Rather than seven days a week (sans holidays), Sakurai might be switching to five days a week format instead. While the game is still being developed thanks to the remaining Fighters Pass Vol. 2 challengers, those pictures need to be withheld for obvious reasons. With that in mind, he goes on to state he still has over 100 “pics of the day” to share.
It’ll be sad to see these eventually end, but if the surge of Sephiroth-related images as of late are any indication we’ll have plenty more to see as new fighters continue to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
