JUST TRADED LONG DISTANCE w/ @trnrtips FOR THE FIRST TIME! I never thought we'd be able to do this in Pokémon GO! But you can now trade with people within 15 km/9.32 miles of you from Nov 12 – Nov 16 2020 at 10:00 am PST! Check out Nick's video on this later & join us on Twitch! pic.twitter.com/ZecFRPaBwy

The trading and transferring update train continues in Pokémon GO, but this particular announcement isn’t related to the recent Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME connectivity. Effective Thursday, November 12th, at 2:30 p.m. PT until Monday, November 16th, at 10 a.m. PT, the trading range between Trainers has been increased in Pokémon GO.
According to the official Pokémon GO Blog, this test is to explore the idea of “ includ[ing] increased trade range as a part of future events.” Yet, Niantic hasn’t specified what this temporary testing range is. Thanks to the community, Trainers have tested a variety of distances and are sharing their results online (even on the tweet regarding this test). Sadly, it seems this range doesn’t mean the long wished for long-distance trading. Reportedly, it appears the range is temporarily 10 km (roughly 6.2 miles) for this test.
For those who have friends nearby or live in packed cities now is the time to take advantage of this limited-time test!
