A snail isn’t likely to be the first creature you’d associate with Monster Hunter, a series that celebrates frantic, fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay. However, the reveal of the Escuregot from the official franchise’s Twitter has revealed that shell-dwelling critters have an important role to play in the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise.
As the clip demonstrates, upon encountering an Escuregot in the wild, you have the option of picking it up and stowing it away for later use. When the situation calls for it, you can then place the creature down and let it release a mist of healing spores that will restore your Hunter’s health. According to the tweet, the Escuregot is an example of the game’s “Hunting Helpers.”
"Hunting Helpers" are endemic life that can be captured and deployed to assist you in the hunt. #MHRise

That’s about all of the confirmed details we can currently extract from the tweet, but going by the healing cloud seen in the footage, it may also be fair to assume that the Escuregot acts as an area-of-effect healer.
Just in case your brain is currently operating at a snail’s pace, there’s also a followup tweet that will clearly spell out the pun-fueled nature of the creature’s name for you.
