In an absolutely unexpected set of circumstances, a literal betta fish – yes, a pet siamese fighting fish – has discovered a glitch undocumented by mankind in the Pokémon series (Pokémon Sapphire). Perhaps that high amount of water in the Hoenn region is working out for these little guys.

Japanese YouTuber -Mutekimaru Channel- has carefully had his aquatic friends attempting to be the very best fishies, like no one ever was. For a while now, his betta fish have been forced to play through Pokémon Sapphire on the GameBoy Advance through a custom motion directed controller – a pretty great life if you ask me! Every 12 hours, the user switches the fish out of concern for their health, which miraculously allowed one of the bettas named “Lala” to make an incredible, albeit pointless discovery.

As seen in the video above at the 1:56 time stamp, within the Seafloor Cavern puzzle, a specific order of movements has allowed one of the boulders moved by HM Strength to oddly duplicate itself. This glitch coincidentally soft locks the adventure and the only way to press forward through the cave is to reset the puzzle by walking out the front entrance or resetting the game. Until these aquatic masterminds make another discovery or beat the Elite Four, we will be sure to let you all know!
