The Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct brought on plenty of announcements, but for anyone holding out hope for something Fighters Pass related the wait continues. That said, there’s still something for Super Smash Bros. fans to look forward to, as Ultimate will be receiving a Super Mario Bros. tournament event later this year.
The above image was shared from the Japanese Super Smash Bros. Twitter account, showing that all Mario series fighters are eligible. Interestingly, they seem to be holding fast to Smash’s designations, as the likes of Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Wario don’t look to be invited despite their origins being tied to Mario. It’s likely the same will hold for items and stages, but with just how much Mario there is in Smash that’ll still lend itself plenty of variety.
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Super Mario Bros. Online Challenge will be held sometime within this November and/or December.
