Hey there, Trainers! Niantic has some new information about the previously announced September and October Community Day vote. To start, mark your calendars for August 22nd/23rd!
Shared on the Pokémon GO blog, beginning on Saturday, August 22nd, at 6 p.m. PT and lasting for 24 hours, the official Pokémon GO Twitter account will tweet out the poll we’ve been waiting for! Charmander, Caterpie, Grimer, and Porygon will be battling it out via an online poll in hopes of winning that coveted spotlight for Pokémon GO’s Community Day.
Niantic has also released some key information that may change your vote. Sure, Shiny hunting is fun, but Community Day also bestows an exclusive move for the Pokémon. Below are details on what exclusive Community Day move each Pokémon will learn, but only if they’re voted into the top two spots:
- Charmander: Evolve Charmeleon (the evolved form of Charmander) to get Charizard that know the Dragon-type attack Dragon Breath. Dragon Breath gives Charizard a Fast Attack that dishes out damage quickly, and the attack is super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon.
- Caterpie: Evolve Metapod (the evolved form of Caterpie) to get Butterfree that know the Flying-type attack Hurricane. Hurricane offers Butterfree a powerful Flying-type Charged Attack to further strengthen its matchups against Fighting-, Grass-, and Bug-type Pokémon.
- Grimer: Grimer originally discovered in the Kanto region will appear in the wild and hatch from Eggs. Alolan Grimer will appear in Raid Battles. Evolve Grimer or Alolan Grimer to get Muk or Alolan Muk that know the Fire-type attack Fire Punch. Fire Punch would be the first Fire-type attack available for Muk and Alolan Muk, giving them a Charged Attack option that not only charges quickly but also hits Steel-type Pokémon for supereffective damage.
- Porygon: Evolve Porygon2 (the evolved form of Porygon) to get Porygon-Z that know the Normal-type attack Tri Attack. This attack will be new to Pokémon GO and, when used, will have a chance of decreasing the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and Defense.
“The Pokémon that receives the most votes by the end of the voting period will be the featured Pokémon for September Community Day on Sunday, September 20, 2020. The Pokémon that receives the second-most votes will be featured during October Community Day on Saturday, October 17, 2020.”
Once the poll closes, we’ll know the top two winners and representatives for Community Day! Now, has your vote changed, or are you looking to still campaigning for your first pick? You’ll have plenty of time to change your mind (or not), but don’t wait until the last minute to cast your vote for Charmander, Caterpie, Grimer, or Porygon!
