Last week we saw that Sports Story’s official Nintendo page had shifted its release date from “Summer 2020” to “TBD,” and today Sidebar Games has made their own official statement on the matter. Bad news confirmed: Sports Story is now delayed per a new ‘trailer’ that’s really just the game’s characters making the announcement, along with some teases of what to expect:
We've prepared a Sports Story update video to shed some more light on the situation. ⚽️🏏🎾⛳️📺 pic.twitter.com/FpGPVyFhD3

Per another series of tweets, Sidebar cites their growing ambition and wish to grow the game beyond their initial vision as the reasons for the delay. While it’s sad to see an anticipated game slip further away, patience nearly always pays off in these situations, and they ask fans to “please understand” and look forward to new updates.
Sports Story update: We must sadly announce a delay. We want to take some more time to work on Sports Story and ensure that everything makes it into the game.

Whenever it arrives, Sports Story will come exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.
