Slowpoke is a special Pokémon. The slow boi simply doesn’t give a Furret, and we should all strive to be more like it. If you were to slap a Slowpoke and insult its tail, you know what it would do? Nothing! Why? Well, it probably wouldn’t notice… but even if it did, it’s too chill to get worked up about it. Heck, Slowpoke is just vibing so hard that it evolves into Slowbro completely by accident.
The Pokémon Company knows what a big deal this sluggish Poké is, and that’s why they’re celebrating it once again with Slowpoke Day! For a few years now, August 10th has been the day we are all supposed to acknowledge this relaxed lizard… bear… thing. This year, they’re going the extra mile by having Slowpoke replace their branding on Twitter, and featuring Slowpoke-themed episodes of the Pokémon anime on Pokémon TV! The playlist will be available for two weeks, so you can enjoy the episodes at a leisurely pace.
In this writer’s household, we’ve always held Slowpoke in high esteem, calmly bopping to the Slowpoke Song every summer. If you’re in a relaxed mood, take a load off and enjoy a tropical tune about this easygoing Pokémon, or check out a few episodes of the anime featuring it!
Or don’t — Slowpoke won’t be bothered either way.
