Ready your spatulas, Japan! The yellow sponge is nearly here!
For SpongeBob SquarePants fans who were looking forward to seeing the cuboid-shaped cartoon star on Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to keep using their imagination for a while longer, as SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated’s Japanese release has been delayed.
The remastered platformer was meant to launch in Japan today, August 4th, but according to a report from Japanese Nintendo, publisher THQ Nordic has postponed the release. The studio has not yet shared a new release date, nor a reason for the delay.
The game, which launched in other territories in June, received positive reception and a number of accolades, — quite rare for a licensed game, especially one aimed at a young audience.
Are you ready to wait, kids?
