Inti Creates are no strangers to 2D action and capturing retro magic across their library, but one of the best examples is Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Released as a stretch goal for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and evoking Castlevania III in its design, I dare say I took to it more than its counterpart. That’s why I’m pleased to say that a sequel is on the way in the form of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.
Based on the available info, the game looks to be an example of not fixing what isn’t broken. Carrying much of what made the first game enjoyable, what’s new is instead the three out of the cast of four playable characters. Zangetsu is back again, but joining him now are the spear wielding exorcist Dominique, the gunplay based Robert, and Hachi. I’m going to let Hachi’s description speak for itself here:
“A Welsh Corgi who follows Zangetsu in order to repay a debt. Hachi was used by an evil alchemist to pilot a set of magicked armor.”
So yeah, we got a dog piloting a steam train mecha-golem. As promising as that line up is, it’s the return of all the ingredients around them that has me excited to grab this once it’s available. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is “coming soon” for Switch and other platforms.
