While the days of Pokémon’s third versions seem long behind us now, with X & Y receiving nothing of the sort, Sun & Moon getting respective “Ultra” versions, and Sword & Shield instead taking the DLC route, plenty of hardcore fans look back fondly on the likes of Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum for what they offered in addition to the base game content.
If you’re a fan of Emerald in particular you might want to celebrate, as the game just hit its 15th anniversary in North America! That’s right, on May 1st, 2005, the green hued cartridge made its way to store shelves.

Pokémon Emerald was first released in North America on this day 15 years ago!

The game mixed up the story of Ruby & Sapphire, letting you battle both Team Aqua and Team Magma, ultimately culminating in the summoning of the box legendary – the sky serpent Rayquaza! Of course there’s also the Battle Frontier, an entirely new map filled with battle arenas that test the mettle of hardened teams.
What are your fondest memories of revisiting the remixed Hoenn region?
