Update (4/30): You can download the Splatoon 2 Special Demo 2020 in the Nintendo Switch eShop, and the event is now live!
Right alongside the news of a condiment-fueled Splatfest re-run, Splatoon 2 has announced a special, free demo period for the game. Anyone who hasn’t made their way to Inkopolis Square already will be able to sample Turf War, Ranked Battle, Salmon Run, and more from April 30th all the way ’til May 6th.

In addition, a weeklong 30% off sale on the full version of Splatoon 2 and a 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online will be available to coincide. The demo will actually be kicking off at 11 p.m. on the 29th, and finish up at 6:59 a.m. on May 6th.
The official site has been updated with full details on the Splatoon 2 demo. While it sadly won’t overlap with the Splatfest, it’s more than worth playing for anyone stuck indoors looking for something new.
