SMASH IPA joins the battle thanks to O’Connor Brewing Co.

One of the fantastic things about being an adult video game nerd is to see how your fellow peers incorporate your favorite Nintendo IPs into IPAs. 

Making the rounds this week, O’Connor Brewing Co. in Norfolk, Virginia made a small batch of beer in honor of a local Super Smash Bros. tournament. The single malt and single hop (SMASH) brew was canned with a custom illustration of Ness and Kirby giving Master Hand the smackdown. Currently, you can try a pour of the “Old School IPA West Coast Style” — but only on tap at O’Connor Brewing Co.’s tasting room. (Sorry, beer aficionados and Smash fans, you can’t place an order of a four or six-pack of the cans.)

SMASH releases tomorrow! Join us for a (free & all ages) Smash Bro’s tournament hosted by Button Slashers from 6pm-9pm!! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places 🎮 . . SMASH stands for Single Malt and Single Hop. This is an old school brewing technique that brewers would employ to educate themselves on the unique aromas and flavors brought by new and old strains of hops from harvest to harvest. We bring you the start of an Educational IPA series to highlight New Age, Emerging, and Classic hops. SMASH is brewed exclusively with a uniquely vibrant German base malt and loads of Chinook hops, this dry hopped IPA brings forth notes of classic spice, citrus, and pine, with some underlying tones of mixed fruit.
