2020 is poised to be a big year, for games and entertainment alike. It’s also the next presidential election here in the United States, and we may see an unlikely candidate enter the fray this year: Sonic. In all seriousness though, Sonic Team and Sega have released new images to start 2020, with Sonic and his iconic gold ring on display. To top it off, Sonic himself has wished fans a big thank you with a new video, complete with hidden text.

The more interesting tidbit, though, is the company’s #SONIC2020 logo and hashtag, which seemingly came out of nowhere. Even more interesting are the secret messages scattered throughout the video:
“A glimmer of a flame”
“Growing with each success”
“Enduring every challenge”
“Within this, my last puzzle”
“Remember the words”
“ignis aurum probat”
“This next chapter belongs to you.”
The last phrase directly correlates to Sonic’s video tweet, so we don’t think this is just a coincidence. (Special thanks to Cybrid101 on Twitter for doing the dirty work.) Either way, it seems Sega is readying our favorite blue hedgehog for a big year!
