One of the many games announced during today’s Indie World presentation, D3 Publisher’s Gleamlight is a side-scrolling action game set in a world with a stained glass aesthetic, where everything is colored and animated like the classic cathedral art of old. You play as a red figure who appears to also be a sword, getting lost in a phantasmagoric world with a number of children and seeking a way out.
The game is sparse on details currently, but it’s billed as an atmospheric, dreamlike experience, full of moments of introspection, and with no UI to distract from what’s happening on screen. The footage and feel seems very Hollow Knight, but hey — Hollow Knight is a great game, and there are certainly worse inspirations. We’ll see how Gleamlight plays out when it launches for Nintendo Switch early next year.
