The piano-based rhythm game Deemo has headed to plenty of platforms over the past few years, from iOS and Android to the Nintendo Switch and even the PS4, thanks to an imminent, lavishly produced 3D remake. Now, its critical and commercial success is taking it to a whole other medium.
As announced at Anime NYC 2019 over the weekend, Production I.G.’s subsidiary Signal.MD will be producing an anime based on the game. Like the game, the story will focus on two characters – the isolated, mysterious figure “Deemo” and the amnesiac girl who falls into his life.

Deemo the Movie will hit theaters in Japan sometime in 2020.
