After its release early last week, those who picked up Skullgirls 2nd Encore on Nintendo Switch were greeted both by one of my favorite fighting games of the last decade and an unfortunate handful of bugs not present on other platforms. Though their presence is regrettable, Skybound Games (who’s been handling the Switch port) have both informed us directly and made it known via Twitter that a patch has been submitted.
Happy Halloween Skullgirls Fans! 🎃
We have just submitted a patch (fixing audio bugs and the missing color palettes) to Nintendo that pending certifications, hope to live by end of next week. Please let us know of any other issues by visiting https://t.co/Nwi5VH9f78.— Skybound Games (@skyboundgames) October 31, 2019
Pending certification, it could arrive as early as late next week. The focus would be on audio related issues with both character quotes playing multiple times over each other or at strange volumes, and the (currently completely absent) story mode cutscene voiceover. This should also return some absent color palette selections for much of the cast, though specifics weren’t given.
At this time they haven’t addressed some other concerns for the game, ranging from online performance to the game’s Switch menu icon, but if this potential quick patch turnaround is anything to go by, then the future could be bright for Skullgirls on Switch.
