Platformer Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair launched for Switch today, and Playtonic Games is celebrating the occasion by bringing their style to Super Mario Maker 2. The developers at Playtonic have designed a stage called “The Impossible Lair” that requires players to change their state in order to progress throughout the level.
In honor of the launch of #YookaLaylee and the #ImpossibleLair, the developers at @PlaytonicGames have created a special #SuperMarioMaker2 course where you’ll need to change states to progress!
We’ll be sharing more courses created by talented indie devs soon, so stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/IDmxfAvy5i

Needless to say, it’s awesome to see to the back and forth of the 2D and 3D gameplay in Yooka and Laylee’s newest adventure represented in a unique fashion in Mario Maker. If you’re a level designer, does this gameplay give you any ideas for your own stages?
As Nintendo noted in the tweet above, we can only expect to see more creative stages from indie devs in the future — so it’s worth staying tuned in on social media for more innovative levels!
