Not content surprising everyone with new Joy-Con colors, Nintendo has dropped another hardware announcement – the original Nintendo Switch model is seeing a battery upgrade.

As announced via the official Japanese and American websites the hardware refresh, which will release this August, should increase the Switch’s play time on a single charge from 2.5-6.5 hours to 4.5-9.0 hours. It also beats out the Switch Lite’s 3.0-7.0 hour estimate.

It looks like that’s all the model will improve, however, so don’t expect any in-game enhancements.

The updated Switch hardware will hit North America and Japan towards the end of August, while Europe will see it land in early September.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
